WHAT IS GROW WITH CONFIDENCE?

A musically-based, brain training program that improves sustained attention and reduces anxiety in children with attention difficulties.

Our digital platform gets children feeling confident about their growth. It contains seven voice-guided units that include calming sounds, spoken text and rhythmic cycles. Ideal for using it at school, at home or in a therapeutic setting.

The program was tested in a clinical trial through the University of Vienna, Faculty of Natural Science with 156 children diagnosed with ADHD.

WHY IS IT REALLY EFFECTIVE?

LEARN TO TRAIN ATTENTION AND RELAXATION

GWC METHOD FOR ADHD

OUR EFFECTIVE MUSICAL PROGRAM

The program was created for 7 to 12-year-olds and takes advantage of the developmental stages between those ages that are determinant for their growth.

The program teaches children to relax, while increasing their ability to concentrate and maintain focus. This also improves their self-confidence and sense of security.

The simple language and instructions are easy to follow and understand.

SCIENTIFIC BASIS OF THE PROGRAM

1. Many disorders have an epigenetic origin: genes + response to environmental signals.

2. We have two survival mechanisms: protection/defense and growth/regeneration; they cannot work at the same time.

3. There are ways to train the mechanism of growth/regeneration and avoid the mindset of protection/defense.

4. Due to the permeability of the type of brainwaves that occur during infancy, children  unconsciously store an enormous cache of data, behavior and beliefs that influences their health and behavior.

5. This database interprets the environmental signals to which the individual is subjected, automatically activating certain mechanisms.

6.  As children age, they pass through neurodevelopmental stages in which brain regions, intelligence templates and abilities develop.

7. Children’s way of thinking changes around the age of seven. Then at nine and eleven-years-old, there are changes that prepare children for adolescence.

8. The unconscious mind processes 20 million stimuli per second, while the conscious mind processes 40.

9. Music and relaxation are stimuli that enrich sensory, cognitive and motor processes, which in turn foster creativity and willingness to change.

10. Grow with Confidence responds to these ideas and offers a rewarding routine to allow positive growth.

HOW TO USE THE PROGRAM

Calm your children/students and improve their attention.

  • Use it at least twice a week to establish the routine
  • Listen to one unit per session (≈ 7 minutes)
  • Start with “A Special Place” if children haven’t listened to the program before
  • Follow with any other unit, and feel free to let the children select the unit
  • Feel free to listen to a unit when there’s available time in the school day

While listening, children should sit or lie down in a comfortable position.

If you wish and time permits, you can discuss the experience of one of the units with the children using the post-listening questions.

QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT STILL HAVE

Attention is a fundamental executive function in the evolution of the central nervous system, which greatly affects decision-making processes, social integration and the development of an individual’s entire personality.

The lack of attention, often coupled with hyperactivity, may lead to an ADHD diagnosis. The complaint is usually that the child’s behavior is overwhelming both at home and at school.

Attention is a fundamental executive function and is like a portal to other important functions. A comprehensive strategy to train attention is required, much like training in sports. Training with children must be as playful as possible so that it is effective and they can overcome a challenge.

ADHD is an epigenetic disorder characterized by inattention, impulsivity and hyperactivity.

– It affects 3 to 5% of the world’s population.
– It is the most frequent disorder in child psychology and psychiatry.
– It is a social and economic problem.

Using behavioral therapies, school intervention, special education, family psychotherapy, diet, homeopathy, therapeutical musical interventions Medication, psychostimulants: methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta, etc.), dexmethylphenidate (Focalin), dextroamphetamines (Adderall), atomoxetine (Strattera).

datos_TDA1

Is ADHD simply an evolutionary variable of the human condition with genetic, epigenetic or psychological roots? Have there always been children who respond to this pattern of behavior? If so, why is it now such a serious problem and before it didn’t seem to be? How do schools manage these children? How does society manage? What is the business of pharmaceuticals? Theories such as Hartmann’s (hunter vs. farmer theory) propose that ADHD is the result of a form of non-adaptive behavior in which the hunter, who requires divided attention, impulsivity and hyperactivity to survive, fails to adapt to life as a farmer where he requires other qualities.

datos_TDA1

DSM-IV considers ADHD a disorder, however, there is no agreement on diagnostic methods and treatments. Many suspect that ADHD is being over-diagnosed.

 HOW IT WORKS

A MUSICAL PROGRAM FOR BRAIN TRAINING

1 YOUR SPECIAL PLACE

In this unit, children learn to make their special place, a mental construct where they will feel safe and sure of themselves. In their special place, children can process, explore and create their own references and patterns in order to mature in a balanced way. The special place is an indispensable tool that can be returned to whenever they think of it.

2 BREATHING

In this unit, children will learn costal and abdominal breathing. Breathing is a vital process that oxygenates the body.

3 LEFT AND RIGHT BRAIN BALANCE

This unit aims to bring better awareness and integration to both cerebral hemispheres and right and left sides of the body. This improves well-being, cognition and emotional capacity.

4 BODY IMAGE

This unit focuses on the identification of different parts of the body and seeks to improve body image. Healthy body image is crucial in children’s self-esteem and in the development of social relationships.

5 ENERGY BALANCE

In this unit, children work on attention, memory and emotional balance through a simple color visualization exercise.

6 DECISION-MAKING PROCESS

In this unit, children will establish a balance between internal and external perceptions; in doing so, they learn to differentiate between their inner and the outside world in order to balance them. This unit also works on playing down mistakes by looking for an easy and effective alternative solution.

7 URBAN ENERGY

Life in cities and suburban areas necessitate another kind of attention and rhythm than life in the country. This unit works on autonomy, attention and self-confidence in urban/suburban settings.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING

Grow with Confidence, the program for children with attention deficit (ADHD) created by Dr. Marta Toro, uses music and relaxation as the main therapeutic process to significantly change our kids’ behavior. It’s a new and creative methodology that can help improve mental, sensory, emotional and affective development.

Some years ago, I started using Grow with Confidence with my students. The program is practical and easy-to-use. In about seven minutes, it sort of resets the school day and creates a relaxed environment. I like it and my students do, too. What a great thing for the world of education!!

I met Marta when I heard a special music on the radio, which gave me a lot of sensations. It was Music for the Greenhouse of Marta Toro. I have heard it many times in the Royal Botanic Garden of Madrid and it always tells me new things. Lately, I met again with her first song: Joy. I have developed a Parkinson stage 3 that has caused me various problems, from great tremors to blockages of movement. I believe in music therapy. My personal experience with Joy song has been something that surprised me and my doctors and therapists. With Joy there is a relaxation of the external symptoms in more than 90%

Marta, thanks for your work!

Grow with Confidence uses music in a novel way to profoundly improve anxiety and attention in students

I have two kids who have a lot of energy around bedtime, like their father. To calm them down, I used to read to them and talk about all of the good things that happened during the day. This didn’t always work to get them to sleep. One day I put on Grow with Confidence, which we listened to attentively until all three of us fell asleep. I thought it only worked because of the novelty, but it keeps working. Now, though, I hit play and run out of the room before I fall asleep too.
